- 1 Egg (Optional)
- Optional: 2 Tablespoons of Cilantro (Finely Chopped) – For Garlic & Bullet Naan
- Optional: 2 Tablespoons of Fresh Garlic (Finely Chopped) – For Garlic Naan
- Optional: 2 Tablespoons of Jalapeños (Finely Chopped) – For Bullet Naan
Garlic Butter Mixture
- 5-6 Tablespoons of Salted Butter (Melted)
- 1 Tablespoon of Cilantro (Finely Chopped)
- 1 Tablespoon of Fresh Garlic (Finely Chopped)
Directions
- In a cup, add in warm water, yeast, and sugar. Set aside for minimum 10 minutes until yeast rises.
- In a stand mixer (using C-Dough Hook attachment), add in bread flour and salt. Mix on low.
- Add in warm milk, yogurt, vegetable oil, egg (optional), and yeast mixture to the bowl.
- Before you turn on the mixer again, decide what type of naan you are making & add the extra ingredients in!
- Plain
- Garlic Naan – Cilantro & Garlic
- Bullet Naan – Cilantro & Jalapeños
- Mix on low until dough as formed. Add in extra warm water if needed. (Should be soft & sticky)
- Oil the bowl with a tablespoon of oil. Cover tightly with plastic wrap. Leave in a warm place minimum 2 hours.
Cooking Option 1 – Quick
- Roll out the dough to desired naan size using all-purpose flour.
- Place on non-stick pan on medium heat.
- Flip after bubbles form.
- Serve after both sides have cooked.
- Plain Naan – Spread Ghee or Butter
- Garlic Naan & Bullet Naan – Spread Garlic Butter Mixture (Recipe above)
Cooking Option 2 – Tandoor at Home
- Roll out the dough to desired naan size using all-purpose flour.
- Cover one side of the naan with water using your fingers.
- Place water side down on pan (medium heat).
- Let it cook and form bubbles.
- After a minute, flip the pan over. The naan should be stuck to the pan. You will have to hover it over the stove. (Do not put the naan directly on heat — the naan will burn)
- Now you can cook the top side of the naan with the heat coming from the stove.
- Once you have desired look of the naan, flip the pan back over, and remove naan from pan.
- Serve.
- Plain Naan – Spread Ghee or Butter
- Garlic Naan & Bullet Naan – Spread Garlic Butter Mixture (Recipe above)
Cooking Option 3 – Pizza
- Roll out the dough to desired naan size using all-purpose flour.
- Place naan on non-stick oven sheet.
- Place pizza toppings on naan.
- Place in 450 degree oven for 7-8 minutes. (More for desired crispiness.)
