Homemade Pizza Crust

Making pizza crust at home should not have to be hard! On Sundays at my home, we have pizza night! This dough recipe is very versatile. You can pre-bake the crust or roll and bake as you go! Check out our recipe for Cilantro & Garlic Chutney to have with your pizza!

Prep Time: 20 Minutes

Rise Time: Minimum 1-2 Hours

Cooking Time: Less than 20 Minutes

Yields: 3 Large Pizzas

Ingredients

  • 1/2 Warm Water
  • 1 Teaspoon or 1 (.25 oz) package of Active Yeast
  • 1 Teaspoons of White Sugar
  • 4 Cups of Bread Flour
  • 1/3 Cup of Oil (Olive or Vegetable)
  • 1 Teaspoon of Salt
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Black Pepper
  • 1 Teaspoon of Granulated Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Red Pepper Flakes
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Anise Seed
  • 1/4 Teaspoon of Oregano (Optional)
  • 3/4 Cup of Warm Water (As Needed)

Directions

  1. To a large cup or small bowl, add warm water, active yeast, and white sugar. Stir well and let rise for 10 minutes. Set aside.
  2. In a mixer, add bread flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, anise seed, and oregano. Mix on low speed.
  3. When yeast mixture has risen, add in yeast mixture, oil, and water (add more/less as needed) into mixer. Mix on low speed until dough is formed.
  4. Knead dough for 2-3 minutes with a little bit of oil.
  5. Coat the sides mixing bowl with oil, place dough back in, cover, and place in a warm place for dough to rise. (Minimum 1-2 hours)

Directions for Pre-Baking Crust (Thick Crust)

  1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
  2. Roll out the dough using All-Purpose Flour. Place on pizza tray.
  3. Bake for 10 minutes. Remove from oven and let it cool.
  4. When ready, add toppings and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes.

Directions for Roll, Top, and Bake (Thin Crust)

  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
  2. Roll out the dough using All-Purpose Flour. Place on pizza tray.
  3. Add toppings.
  4. Bake for 15-18 minutes.
